Clinical Supervision

We offer clinical supervision to LMSWs who are looking to specialize in working with the most underserved sexuality and gender populations (including the trans/GNC/NB, LGBQ, BDSM/kink, poly/CNM, and sex work communities), as well as with youth and those struggling with substance use. LMSWs with intersecting identities in more than one of these populations are strongly encouraged to apply. My practice offers generous benefits depending on number of hours worked, and supervisees of color can choose to work with two pro bono clients of color and get paid their full fee. Currently all clients are seen remotely, but in the future a hybrid of remote and in-person hours will be available.

In which state(s) are you currently licensed to practice (or plan to be licensed)? Please list all applicable states.
Are there any specific supervision requirements in your state that we should be aware of (e.g., number of hours, supervisor credentials, required documentation)? If you’re unsure, we recommend contacting your state’s licensing board before applying.
Please note any internships, practicums, volunteer or other work you've done related to the populations listed above.
Please describe how this position will fit in with your current life and schedule, and support your goals.
Please describe how you would be a good fit for working with me and the populations my practice serves.
Please list your availability to see clients, noting any preferred days and times
Please write an example of a public-facing bio (~100 to 150 words), i.e., how you would describe yourself and your therapeutic approach to the public.

Supervision Model & Practice Values

At Queer Therapy NYC, supervision is a relational and political practice rooted in collective care, redistribution, and support toward autonomy. Our model is designed for clinicians who value reflection, flexibility, and a pathway to independent practice.

How We Work

Our supervision model is collaborative rather than hierarchical. Clinicians are supported in building their caseload at their own pace, making independent clinical choices, and preparing for next steps in their careers. We don’t require non-competes. When therapists move on, they may take their clients with them.

We believe in redistributive practices: higher-fee sessions help subsidize sliding scale and pro bono care, and supervision fees help sustain individualized mentorship. Therapists of color and global majority clinicians may also offer paid pro bono sessions to clients of color, as part of our commitment to reparative redistribution.

Supervisees

Supervisees receive weekly supervision aligned with licensing requirements, support building caseloads, and guidance through licensure. We welcome supervisees who are self-directed, growth-oriented, and aligned with our commitments to anti-oppressive, queer and trans-affirming, and anti-pathologizing care.

Expectations

Therapists are W-2 employees and expected to:

  • Communicate regularly and clearly
  • Participate in supervision and occasional team check-ins
  • Stay current on documentation
  • Engage with our values and redistributive framework
Onboarding Support

We pace onboarding to prioritize sustainability and clarity. We provide structured support around caseload development, documentation, and clinical growth, tailored to your goals.

Compensation & Benefits

At Queer Therapy NYC, we offer transparent compensation, redistributive structures, and support toward independence. Our model is built on care, sustainability, and shared responsibility—not control or scarcity.

Pay Structure

Licensed clinicians (typically LMSWs) are W-2 employees paid through a tiered commission model:

  • Year 1: 50% commission (or $35 minimum on fees $50+)
  • Year 2: 55%
  • Year 3: 60%, or earlier with LCSW

Therapists set their own fees and have flexibility in caseload size. Full-time = 20+ sessions/week; part-time = 10+.

Benefits (Available After 6 Months)
  • Paid time off: 2 weeks vacation + 2 weeks sick/safe leave (prorated)
  • Professional development: $500/year (full-time) or $250/year (part-time)
  • 401(k): Optional, with up to 4% matching
