What does “transitioning” actually mean? In this second installment of the Trans Allyship 101 series, we explore the many different ways trans and nonbinary people might navigate social, medical, and/or legal transition. From name and gender marker changes to hormones and surgeries, participants will gain a clearer understanding of what transition can look like.

This training is ideal for folks who want to gain a deeper understanding of a wide range of trans experiences and offer informed, non-pathologizing support to the people in their lives.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand common transition pathways, including social, medical, and legal options
  • Learn affirming language around gender-affirming care and how to avoid invasive questions
  • Explore transition as a personal, non-linear, and deeply individual process
  • Understand the systemic barriers to care and how to support trans people navigating them

This training prioritizes:

  • Warmth and Grounding: Held in home-like, welcoming spaces that center comfort, accessibility, and connection
  • Shame-Free Learning: Space for real questions, boundary-setting, and loving corrections
  • Relational Process: Emphasis on presence over performance and listening over fixing
  • Reciprocity and Access: Tiered pricing, service trades, and “pay it forward” options
